Training Sessions

We will be holding training sessions from 2-4 PM Tuesday and Thursday to give everyone a basic set of fighting moves for the battle, as well as coordinating the guarding of the Horse. We’re gathering at the Horse, 8:15 and Esplanade. We are fortunate in having Gregg Paulson, a very experienced fight choreographer, helping us set up a battle that is safe, fun, and impressive. Make sure you set aside this time to join us in doing that voodoo, that we’ll do, so well.

It should be a blast recreating the fighting as well as guarding easily the biggest and coolest Art on the playa this year. I’ve attached a file on fast and easy designs for weapons and shields, but let me know you want to participate even if you will not be bringing your own equipment. We’ll figure out a way to get you into the line regardless.

Looking forward to charging the line with/against you!

Greetings Warriors and Hired Muscle!

As we get closer to the event and the testosterone (and equivalent hormones) builds in our systems at the thought of the bloody carnage to come, our minds naturally turn to the Manly Question:

What should I wear?

Spear and shield were the two most common pieces of kit. I have attached minimalistic instructions for making them quickly.

Here are some good resources for building quick and dirty Greco-Roma weapons and armor, as well as some sites with designs to inspire!
